Iconic: "Martinique," The Banana Leaf Pattern

One of my all time adored patterns is Hinson & Co.'s "Martinique," made famous by The Beverly Hills Hotel. As a child I was drawn to The Pink Palace by my favorite flick, Troop Beverly Hills. During my time living in Malibu I frequented the luxe hotel & spent as many long weekends there as my Amex allowed. I dream to one day use this honored print gracing the walls of my home.

I love this Banana Leaf Lighting Fixture in White; while the original Martinique print may be too overwhelming for some this would be a perfect way to enjoy the Banana Leaf symbolic image.

  3. The Langtang Valley Trek is a popular trekking route in Nepal, known for its stunning natural beauty, cultural richness, and relatively easy access from Kathmandu. Here’s an introduction to this beautiful trek:

    Location
The Langtang Valley is situated in the Langtang National Park, north of Kathmandu and close to the Tibetan border. The region is dominated by the Langtang Lirung (7,227 meters), the highest peak in the area.

    Highlights
Scenic Beauty: The trek offers breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains, glaciers, and dense forests of rhododendron, bamboo, and pine.
Cultural Experience: The Langtang Valley is home to the Tamang people, whose rich culture and traditions are influenced by Tibetan Buddhism. The trek provides an opportunity to visit ancient monasteries and observe traditional village life.
Wildlife: Langtang National Park is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. It is home to red pandas, Himalayan black bears, snow leopards, and various bird species.
Kyanjin Gompa: This is a major highlight of the trek, a serene village with a beautiful monastery and panoramic mountain views.
    Trekking Route
Starting Point: The trek typically starts from Syabrubesi, a village about a 7-8 hour drive from Kathmandu.
Duration: The trek can be completed in 7 to 10 days, depending on the pace and side trips.
Elevation: The trek involves gradual elevation gain, with the highest point being Tserko Ri (4,984 meters), offering spectacular views of the Langtang Himal range.
    Itinerary Overview
Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi.
Day 2: Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel.
Day 3: Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village.
Day 4: Trek from Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa.
Day 5: Acclimatization day at Kyanjin Gompa (optional hike to Tserko Ri).
Day 6: Trek back to Lama Hotel.
Day 7: Trek from Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi.
Day 8: Drive back to Kathmandu.
    Best Time to Visit
The best time to Langtang Trek is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. During these times, the weather is stable, and the skies are clear, offering the best mountain views.

    Preparation and Permits
Fitness Level: A moderate level of fitness is required, as the trek involves walking for several hours each day with significant elevation changes.
Permits: Trekkers need to obtain a Langtang National Park entry permit and a TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System) card.
Accommodation: Tea houses and lodges are available along the route, providing basic amenities and meals.
    Tips for Trekkers
Pack Light: Carry essential trekking gear, warm clothing, and a good pair of trekking boots.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol to prevent altitude sickness.
Respect Local Culture: Be mindful of local customs and traditions, and seek permission before taking photographs of people.
Acclimatize Properly: Take your time to acclimatize, especially when gaining altitude rapidly.
The Langtang Valley Trek offers a unique combination of natural beauty, cultural insights, and adventure, making it a must-do for trekking enthusiasts visiting Nepal.
